Planning a trip with toddlers is not a simple task. It takes months of preparation, days of packing, and a fair amount of courage. This week, I am exploring what it truly means to travel with twins, the holiday accident that still haunts me, and the deep desire to show my children the world despite the challenges.
The planning phase starts early. Flights must be booked around nap schedules. Accommodation needs to have enough space for two cribs and a safe area for crawling. I spend weeks researching stroller friendly airports, child friendly restaurants, and activities that will not end in meltdowns. Then comes the packing. Two of everything. Diapers, wipes, snacks, changes of clothes, favorite toys, and backup loveys in case one gets lost. The bags are heavy. The lists are long.
But the hardest part is not the logistics. It is the fear. A few years ago, a holiday accident left me anxious about traveling with little ones. I still remember the panic, the what ifs, and the feeling of being far from home. That memory follows me every time I zip a suitcase.
Still, I want my twins to see new places. I want them to feel sand between their toes and hear different languages. So I push through the fear. I plan a little more. I pack a little smarter. And I remind myself that the world is worth exploring, even when it is scary.
