Son Tae-young Says She Has Never Hired a Housekeeper While Raising Kids in the US

Actor Son Tae-young has opened up about the parenting principles she has followed while raising her two children in the United States, revealing that she has never employed a housekeeper.

In a recent interview, Son explained that she and her husband made a deliberate choice to handle parenting and household chores on their own rather than relying on outside help. She described the decision as a personal resolve rather than a necessity, saying she wanted to be fully present in her children's daily lives and to experience every part of raising them firsthand.

Son acknowledged that managing a household in a large American home without domestic assistance has not always been easy. She spoke about the long days filled with cooking, cleaning, school runs and homework, but said she has never regretted the arrangement. According to her, the routine has brought the family closer and taught her children to take responsibility for their own space and belongings.

She also noted that living abroad has shaped her approach to parenting in other ways. With extended family far away in Korea, she and her husband have had to build their own support system and divide duties between them. Son said the experience has made her more independent and given her a deeper appreciation for the effort that goes into running a home.

The actor added that she hopes her children grow up understanding the value of doing things for themselves, and she plans to keep the same approach as they get older.
