The North Chatham Free Library is launching a free three-part series this summer titled "Parenting in a Changing Climate," led by Nora Mills Boyd. The sessions will take place at the library annex located at 103 Depot Street.
Each event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. on three consecutive Fridays: June 28, July 26, and August 23. The series is designed for parents, caregivers, and anyone interested in discussing the emotional and practical challenges of raising children in an era of environmental uncertainty.
Boyd, a local educator and parent, will guide conversations that move beyond simple doomsday scenarios. Instead, the workshops aim to help attendees build resilience, find community support, and develop age-appropriate ways to talk about climate issues with kids. Topics will likely include managing eco-anxiety, fostering a love for nature, and making sustainable family choices without feeling overwhelmed.
The library encourages participants to attend all three sessions to get the full benefit of the progressive discussion format. Space may be limited, so those interested are advised to arrive early or contact the library for registration details. This series offers a rare chance to connect with neighbors facing similar questions about how to raise hopeful and engaged children in a changing world.
